Does Ketosis repel Mosquito's? What the heck does that even mean? I am sure all of you want to know a very natural non toxic way to repel those pesky flying parasites! Ahhhh MOSQUITOS! Since BBQ season and summer is upon us, we will definitely be running into some of those wonderful insects that bless us with their presence. Maybe not so much in California, but all over the other states, yes! I’ve been looking at natural and non-toxic ways to repel these suckers!
One thing I read recently was, ketosis repels mosquitos. What that means is, when your body has consumed less sugar (usually restricted to 25 to 100 g of carbs per day, which varies for each individual), you produce an organic compound called ketones. This naturally occurring organic compound changes your body's pH and chemistry. Ketones reduce the fruity sweet attractive body odor that mosquito’s love!
Other non toxic natural ways to repel them is to make your own mosquito repellant spray with essential oils. Here is one to help you out this summer!
DIY Non-Toxic Mosquito Repellant ingredients:
Mix all the ingredients in a spray bottle and swirl! That easy! You can spray it on your body and clothes before venturing outdoors, going for a hike or heading out to BBQ!
Remember, Citronella and Lemongrass cannot be omitted because they are the secret weapons against them! There you go, a natural non-toxic DEET for you this summer! Be mindful of these two ways to fight mosquito's and avoid their bites this season, restrict sugar intake and essential oil it up!
